Technology domains where the Dutch IT talent shortage is most pronounced

The Dutch IT market is currently facing a scarcity of skilled employees, and this is particularly evident in certain areas of IT. In this blog post, we will explore the technologies for which there is the largest scarcity of employees in the Dutch IT market.

The scarcity of IT professionals in these specific technologies is increased by the fact that the technology landscape is rapidly; negatively impacting the ease of finding professionals with specific skills. The technology domains most affected by shortage of talent are:

  • Cybersecurity: The increasing number of cyber threats, ransomware attacks and data breaches is driving demand for cybersecurity professionals. However, there is a shortage of skilled professionals with the necessary knowledge and experience to protect organizations from cyber threats. This has led to a high demand for cybersecurity professionals in the Netherlands, but there is only a limited supply of qualified candidates.

  • ERP and CRM: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems are becoming increasingly important for businesses to manage their operations and customer interactions effectively. However, there is a shortage of skilled professionals with the necessary knowledge and experience to design, implement and maintain ERP and CRM systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft and Salesforce.

  • Integration: As more companies adopt new technologies, there is a growing need for integration technologies that can connect different systems and applications. However, there is a shortage of skilled professionals with the necessary knowledge and experience to design, implement and maintain integration technologies

  • Cloud computing: The adoption of cloud computing technologies is increasing rapidly, and this is driving demand for professionals with skills in cloud architecture, cloud security, and cloud management. However, there is a shortage of skilled professionals with the necessary knowledge and experience to design, implement and manage cloud solutions for example Azure and AWS technology domains.

Integration software, such as Mulesoft, allows organizations to connect their various systems and applications, and ensure that data flows seamlessly between them. This is achieved through the use of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which act as a bridge between different systems and allow them to communicate with each other. An integration consultant is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining these integration solutions. They work closely with different departments within an organization to understand their specific needs and requirements, and then design and implement integration solutions that meet those needs. This includes configuring and setting up APIs, mapping data between different systems, and ensuring that the integration solutions are secure and scalable. Once the integration solutions are in place, an integration consultant also plays a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting these solutions. They monitor the performance of the integration solutions and take the necessary steps to optimize them, troubleshoot any issues that may arise, and keep the solutions updated with the latest technology.

In all these areas, the demand for senior-level IT resources will exceed the supply in the upcoming years.
